Who We Are
As a church our mission comes directly from Jesus. In Matthew 28 we are called to make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey everything Jesus has commanded.
We strive to be a place where religious and irreligious, seeker and skeptic, saved and searching can:
Belong - we seek to welcome all people into an authentic community.
Become - we are all on a journey to become more like Jesus.
Be Love - we seek to be agents of God's love, mercy and justice in our world.
What we are for is greater than what we are against.
Our identity is rooted in the person of Jesus Christ and our mission in serving the Kingdom of God. We strive to live into God’s great story of mercy, forgiveness and new life. All other narratives our world creates are distractions.
We don’t play church; we are all in for Jesus.
We believe the church was established to further God’s Kingdom, not just make its members comfortable. We put aside our needs for those of others. We take risks for the sake of the mission of Jesus Christ. Here it’s okay to ask questions. Here it’s okay to have doubts. The life of faith is an adventure we walk together.
People matter to God so they matter to us.
Jesus loved spending time with religious and un-religious people. Likewise, we welcome everyone to join us. If you have never attended a church, haven’t attended for a long time, or are simply curious about God, you can find a home here.
We give back
We recognize the needs around us and do what we can to meet them. We acknowledge that everything we have is a gift from God and we seek to pay the blessing forward. In church language, we don’t take grace for granted.
We laugh hard, loud, and often.
Joy is one primary characteristic of the Christian life. We love spending time together, eating together, serving together, and worshiping together. We want joy to infuse everything we do.
We are part of the Evangelical Covenant Church. The Evangelical Covenant Church seeks to form and nurture communities that are deeply committed to Jesus Christ and passionately engaged in Christ’s mission in the world. We enjoy being part of this “family” because of the emphases of caring for those less fortunate, learning from and bringing together people of various cultures, reliance on God’s Word, and trusting in God’s Spirit to lead and guide us. We also appreciate that while we hold key Christian beliefs strongly, we allow room for disagreement on the minor issues. We have a variety of backgrounds and experiences, and we choose to follow Jesus together.
For Covenant people, our essential beliefs are summed up in what we call Covenant Affirmations:
